Welcome Landon Kenneth
Our family received a new baby to love on January, 13 at 7:58 pm. Landon Kenneth, whose middle name is Dad's first, was 7 pounds, 10 ounces and 20 inches long at birth, has blond hair and blue eyes and is super snuggly. Dad would have dearly loved his sweet new grand son, but I rather fancy the idea that he got to meet him before any of us. The love continues.
P.S. He's just as cute as me.

Yuck!
What a nightmare. The Ravens and the 49ers in the Super Bowl. Dad would have hated this!

The Gift that Keeps on Giving
On several occasions since Dad left us, Mom has found little gifts that he had stashed away for us. Recently she found four little "groan tubes" - plastic noise makers - in a desk drawer and gave one to each grandchild, as I'm sure they were intended to be. Seth loves it and loves that it's from his Papa. I love that he keeps giving gifts even though he's no longer with us. It reminds me to be grateful for all of the gifts - both concrete and intangible - that he gave us while he was here and continues to give even though time and space now separate us. Generosity was one of Dad's best qualities. At his core, he was a giver and I can only hope to emulate that attribute.

What A Wonderful World
Seth has been working on a puppet show in school. In it, all of the kids will be singing the Louis Armstrong classic, What a Wonderful World. When Seth came home from school today, he told me that he told his teacher that that is his Papa's favorite song. She suggested that he invite his Papa for the puppet show and Seth said, "He can't come because he died." She told him, "Well maybe he'll be listening from heaven," and Seth replied emphatically, "Yes! I KNOW he will!" When he told me this story, all I could do is choke back tears, grab him and give him a big hug!
