I think that everyone who ever met Dad would agree that he never met a stranger - only friends he hadn't yet made. When we lived at the beach, Dad was well known all over the Grand Strand and was very active in many organizations including the Optimist Club, the Home Builder's Association and the Hotel Motel Association. One time, Mom and Dad were at an event and Dad was working the crowd so to speak, when Mom overheard two men talking.
"Who is that man talking to Bruce Hannon?"
"That's the Governor of South Carolina."
